US POSTAL SERVICE

71 Main St, Center Ossipee, NH

The Center Ossipee Post Office is a small but important part of the local infrastructure.

The history of postal service in Center Ossipee goes back nearly two centuries. The first post office opened here in 1835, and later, as the railroad and the village center developed, postal service became part of the town’s essential infrastructure.

The current post office building dates to 1960, during the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower. A plaque inside the building still records this date along with the name of Postmaster General Arthur E. Summerfield, adding a small historical detail to an otherwise highly functional space.

Today, the post office is compact and simple in its layout. There is no elaborate interior or large number of decorative elements, so the photography naturally focuses on the building itself, the post office boxes, and the practical purpose of the space.

My Role as a Photographer

For this shoot, it was important for me not to make the location look artificially decorative, but to clearly communicate its function. When a place is visually very simple, the photographer’s task is to find clear angles and small details that help the viewer understand the space and get the necessary visual information.
