NORDIC MUSEUM

Stockholm, Sweden

Nordiska museet is the largest museum of cultural history in Sweden. Founded in 1873 by educator and cultural historian Artur Hazelius, the museum is dedicated to the lives of people in Northern Europe from the 16th century to the present day. Its collections include more than 1.5 million objects, as well as millions of photographs, archival documents, and books.

Beyond the exhibitions themselves, I was especially impressed by the museum’s architecture and interiors. High vaulted ceilings, monumental staircases, soft natural light, and remarkable attention to detail create an atmosphere that inspires not only history enthusiasts but photographers as well.

I had the opportunity to hold a photoshoot here. In my opinion, museums can attract visitors not only through their collections but also through the beauty of the spaces themselves. Architecture, interiors, and atmosphere often become subjects of photography and help draw attention on social media.

Sometimes people come for a beautiful photo and leave with a newfound interest in history and culture. I believe this is also an important way to promote museums and introduce cultural heritage to new audiences.

For me, this museum became an example of how culture can exist in several dimensions at once: through history, architecture, and contemporary visual culture. That is why places like this remain vibrant, relevant, and meaningful even in the modern world.
